MCP Router 0.4.5 has been released! ๐ŸŽ‰

Hello, MCP fans! We're excited to announce the release of MCP Router 0.4.5.

Project Direction Changeโ€‹

MCP Router has been developed as closed-source for the past 3 months. This was because, like how Cursor forked VSCode and "free-rode" on it, being "free-ridden" by other projects could affect the project's sustainability. Starting with MCP Router 0.4.5, we will publish the source code under the Sustainable Use License following Fair Code principles. This license is adopted by projects like n8n and ensures project sustainability by requiring a license for commercial use.

With this direction change, we look forward to improving MCP Router and extending its features together with the community.

Key New Featuresโ€‹

Over these 3 months, we've significantly improved the user experience and made MCP Router more intuitive and accessible.

In version 0.4.5, we're pleased to provide seamless integration with any MCP server, offering complete flexibility in infrastructure selection.

We continue to maintain our local-first approach, ensuring users retain full control over their data. This enables effective operation even without constant internet connectivity. Our consistent focus on local operation not only improves performance but also enhances privacy and data sovereignty.

  • Extended Integration: Seamless connections to VSCode, Cursor, Claude, Windsurf, and custom clients, allowing you to work in your preferred development environment
  • OS-Native Encryption: Securely protects sensitive data such as MCP arguments, environment variables, remote URLs, and bearer tokens using the OS's native encryption mechanisms
  • New API Implementation: Programmatic access to all MCP Router features through a comprehensive API
  • AI Agents: Easily create and use AI agents that can utilize any MCP server

The software can be downloaded here.

We're committed to continuously evolving MCP Router to better meet your needs, and we look forward to delivering even more features in the future. We look forward to continuously evolving MCP Router with the community, working on feature improvements through an open development process, and building great tools together.
